Meet Master Photographer Barb Gordon

Hi! I am Master Photographer Barb Gordon and I understand how difficult it can be to be in front of a camera. If you want to get portraits you will love, call me, I know how to help you be your best on camera. You are the key to a great portrait and you will be coached, educated and comfortable so you can enjoy the Gordon Photography Experience. 

Reflecting on some of the photo sessions I have had throughout my 25 plus years in this wonderful art, I am so grateful. I have worked with hundreds of newborn babies and nervous new parents. I am now photographing some of my past high school senior client’s children. And as it comes full circle when I know I am recording the last photograph a person will have taken. It is such a privilege to be a part of so many families. It is an honor to do something so meaningful and priceless for people. 

My favorite part of the photographic process is the unveiling. My reward is seeing the expressions, tears, excitement, and the connection people have with each other. If I can boost someone’s self esteem, enhance their home with artful images, capture relationships and wrap it up in a memorable experience-I’m a happy artist.

Barb Gordon, M.Photog., CR, CPP, is a nationally published and award winning photographer, entrepreneur, speaker, and author.  She has been published in the prestigious PPA Loan Collection 2006, PPA Showcase 2003, twice named Iowa’s Top Ten Photographer of the Year, 2010 Iowa’s Master Photographer of the Year, and Photographer of the Year, Silver Level at PPA’s 2010 International Print competition.

Barb is Marion’s only Master of Photography and the second one to obtain this level in the Cedar Rapids area. She is also a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) with PPA, less than 4% of the 20,000 members in 54 countries of PPA hold this mark of excellence. 

Barb is a member of Professional Photographers of America International (PPA), Professional Photographers of Iowa (PPI) , Northeast Iowa Professional Photographers which she organized in 1990 and has served many offices. 

Barb serves on the alumni board for the photography department for Hawkeye Community College where she graduated in 1985 with her AA degree in Portrait Photography.

She has been locally honored by YWCA Tribute to Women of Achievement 2001 and Advanced Entrepreneur of the Year 2003.  Barb owns Gordon Photography & Gallery in Marion, Iowa specializing in customized portrait art.

The studio regularly hosts interns and job shadow students, photographs the Special Prom each year, and budgets for giving to missions.
