The Best in High School Senior Portraits

Boys Rock!
High school senior portrait time is here in full swing. Starting off featuring the boys this week is Jacob. We had a great time and he had awesome images. Narrowing it down to five final images was a challenge. The outdoor session landed during our intense heat wave, but we got it done a few days later.

Senior Art Print

I just finished this special art print for Maggie. I used Photoshop brushes for the fire and an image of my kitchen floor slate tile for the overall texture. A boarder I made in Photoshop for the edges to finish it off. Then of course I had to get her favorite track shoes in there!

I just love the freedom of creativity the Senior Art Print brings! This senior from Pennsylvania was so much fun to work with.
Dress Rehearsal

Marrissa and Anna are sophmores and great friends at Kennedy High School and we had a ton of fun, outfits and ideas. I just quick pulled three images out of, well, a lot of really cool stuff. Anna’s mom is creative and fun to work with-she can pose girls! We wanted to test out some ideas, makeup and hair. I think it was Anna who said it was great to try out her hair this way at a ‘Dress Rehearsal’ to see if she would consider it for her senior portraits when the time comes. And wow did they both look great. More images to come when I get caught up! Thanks ladies, I had a blast.
Outrageous Senior Outing

As part the “The Master’s Session” I wanted Jordan to have totally unique images especially the on location ones. We got a little wacky. Her mom and she were just so comfortable and fun to hang with. They were game for anything and let me do my thing – that was so inspiring. As a result, we have some outstanding, quality images.
Thanks so much to the dudes at Marion Iron Company! Such a welcoming group of guys letting us do crazy senior portraits at quitting time on a Friday night. Three even got into the photo spirit! We also met nice people at Star Appliance in Marion-I think they thought we were insane- but welcomed us anyway. I admit, that is was the wackiest idea I’ve had but what great light they have in their showrooms.
These are just a couple shots of the amazing work we did today. Jordan’s Master image, the one that will be considered being entered into a professional photography competition, will be photographed at a later date. We are planning a Victorian theme image for that.
Here is Jordan’s slide show:
Creative Outburst

Another image from the Senior Art Prints collection. I really had fun with this-there are so many elements to make for great depth and interest. The Elite session is a portrait session that includes an image done basically as a surprise for the client. I pick the size, image and artistic treatment and go wild.
Senior Art Print

One of my favorite parts of senior portraits is the art print. These are custom, one of a kind, images I create how ever the mood strikes me. In this image, Pete made his own logo or symbol that he and two of his friends use to represent their friendship.

This is one of my favorite images of Pete. My first time at this location I had not noticed before and I was so excited. Now the garage is resided and all the character is gone! Talk about a one of a kind image, no one will ever have this for a background again.
Senior Outting
Posted by: | CommentsI believe the first time I photographed Shelby was with her brothers and she was 8 years old with long sandy blond hair. She now lives on the east coast I am so honored to have such a great relationship with the family that she wanted her senior portraits taken in Iowa! It worked out great. The weather, overcast sky for beautiful light, plenty of time, perfect selection of clothing, a good hair day, a nice fellow in Marion we met to photograph by his car (Thanks!) and creative energy.
Wow, Shelby! We did good! It is a bit of a long video but I just couldn’t bring myself to cut out any more images! You did fabulous. Thanks for being so fun to be around. Enjoy!
